Citybox website redesign

New WordPress site for Citybox, with a location selector, prices by category, a space calculator and access to the customer portal.

Citybox site: home page with the location selector on desktop and phone, and the mini storage section with prices by category

What was needed

Citybox’s previous site was built with Porto and WPBakery. The company wanted a new image for its mini storage units, one that looked good on the phone and took people straight to booking.

What I built

A WordPress site with a custom theme and Elementor, assembled with the widgets from GeekCore Toolkit. The texts, prices and addresses are the real ones from the previous site and the data Citybox provided.

  • Home page: the background changes with the location and rotates on its own until the person picks one. The “Rent your unit” button goes to the chosen location.
  • Mini storage units: one card per category with its illustration, square meters, what is usually stored and the monthly price plus VAT. Prices change depending on the location.
  • Space calculator: the person adds what they want to store and the site recommends the smallest unit that fits. It replaces the old calculator, which used jQuery and Bootstrap.
  • Content: how-it-works steps, video, security, an app section, branches with phone numbers, frequently asked questions and a contact form.
  • Customer portal: the “My Account” and “Book” buttons go to the payment portal, which is still a separate application.

Own pieces

  • Citybox theme: independent, with its own design system and local typography, without depending on Google Fonts.
  • Citybox Importer: loads the images, pages, legal texts, menus, header and footer. It can be repeated without duplicating content, so the site is built the same way in development and in production.
  • Citybox Calculator: a plugin with an admin panel (categories, items, units with image, colors and texts), shortcode and Elementor widget, with JSON export and import.

SEO and security

The theme adds a meta description, Open Graph, structured data for the company and the three locations, and an llms.txt. It also adds security headers, disables XML-RPC and prevents the site’s users from being listed. Everything was tested on desktop and on the phone, and inside the Elementor editor too.
